Orla Fitzgerald has been successfully practicing acupuncture since qualifying in 2001. After completing an honours degree in Genetics at Trinity College Dublin, Orla became interested in exploring the body’s ability to heal itself. This led her to examine the holistic approach to health care taken by Traditional Chinese Medicine. She qualified as an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist with the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland, which is affiliated with the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. Orla travelled to China and undertook post-graduate training at Nanjing University, including clinical experience at two of the city’s major hospitals. She is a registered member of ACHI and AFPA, both of which operate strict codes of ethics and practice.
In addition to working as an acupuncturist and herbalist, Orla has been practicing yoga for over 10 years. Along with the health and fitness benefits that come from a regular practice, yoga has helped her to find balance and tranquillity in everyday life. Her classes are dynamic and flowing and, with a focus on breath and cultivating awareness, she helps each student to find balance as they work to build strength and increase flexibility.
